Louisville Combat Academy

The 10th Planet affiliation brought me through the door but it was the coaches and members that kept me coming back. The right balance of formality and function make the environment great for learning without being stifled by pageantry. The only required protocol is to show up, participate, do your best and treat your training partners and coaches with respect. There is no pecking order or hierarchical structure to squeeze the new or inexperienced members. All are welcome. I walked in at 47 years of age with zero experience in any combat sport. 3 years later, I'm still here. Happily grinding it out with the most diverse group of misfits this side of the Ohio Valley, and I plan to be for as long as my body lets me.

I can’t say enough good things about this gym. Holly and AJ have built a wonderful community. Training partners are solid, both technical and respectful. You can count on tough rounds if you want them while knowing you’re safe. If you’re looking for high-level coaching, strong training partners and a welcoming community, I couldn’t recommend it more.

I’ve been training here since 2022 and have had the chance to drop in at a lot of gyms over the years. What really stands out about this place is that the technical level and the atmosphere are both top tier. A lot of gyms have one or the other — it’s rare to find both in the same room and at the end of the day, everyone’s just there because they genuinely want to get better at jiu-jitsu. Whether you’re local or just passing through, this is a great place to train. If you’re in the area, stop in — we’d love to have you.

This gym is fantastic! The atmosphere is laid back, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. I’ve only studied jiu-jitsu here, but they also offer Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Strength & Conditioning classes, which I’ve heard great things about. I’ve learned from AJ and Kevin and both those guys are excellent instructors who take the time to explain each technique clearly and in detail. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to train in a positive and supportive environment.

Love coming here!! This place has helped me grow in something new that I am good at. Both students and coaches are very helpful we work as a team And help each other learn new things. They offer classes for adults And children. This place has changed My perspective on jujitsu as a beginner. All the people here are very nice and welcoming. I definitely do Recommend their jujitsu but they do have others like, wrestling, Muai Thai, MMA, strength ,ect. Again I really do love this place and I recommend stopping in even if you’re in Louisville for a short period of time!!
