The instructors are incredibly supportive and empathetic, and they possess a knack for effectively engaging with students. I am so thankful to have found this academy. My son loves it here and I cannot recommend Family Martial Arts Center enough. My son had a previously horrible martial arts experience and cried, begging me not to ever go again. Then, after walking in the downtown square of Summerville, and looking in Windows - he asked to try this place. I was so excited for him to try again, but skeptical. From the moment I spoke to Mr. Galloway, I knew this place was the real deal and special. My son really was captivated and his shyness melted away. Master Kirk has instructed some of the classes also and the kids are also enthralled with the lessons. When we were beginning, it was clear that they were all about family. Both Master Kirk and Mr. Galloway are family oriented. It's because they believe in what they teach, the kids truly learn from them. My husband is even contemplating on doing classes! We look forward to each week. Anyone who is a part of the Martial Arts Family here, is lucky!

I’ve been taking my daughters to Syde Kontrol for about 10 months now and have seen them grow immensely in their confidence. They both do Taekwondo and my oldest does Brazilian Jujitsu as well. Master Kirk and Master Galloway have not only created a great environment for teaching and challenging their students in both martial arts, they also foster a wonderful sense of community. They genuinely care about their students progress not only on the mat, but in life in general. If you’re wanting to learn how to effectively defend yourself, then this is the school for you.

I am here daily and it is wonderful to see the kids so engaged at this martial arts school. The instructors are uber-passionate about their craft, and care greatly on giving the kids a positive experience each class. I highly recommend this school for kids who are interested in learning self defense and martial arts.
