This is an excellent jiu-jitsu school. The instructors are very accommodating and do a great job making students feel comfortable trying something new. They are professional, patient, and supportive. On top of that, they are great teachers and very skilled jiu-jitsu fighters. Highly recommend.

I recently stopped in for a class at this academy while traveling, and I couldn’t be happier that I did. From the moment I stepped through the door, the professors and students made me feel right at home. The environment is warm, respectful, and incredibly positive. Even as a first-time visitor, I was welcomed like part of the team. The instructor ran an outstanding class, clear explanations, excellent pacing, and a level of technical detail that really shows their expertise and passion for teaching. The facility itself is clean, well-organized, and full of great energy. Whether you’re a local searching for a long-term home or just passing through and need a place to train, this gym is an absolute standout for anyone serious about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Had an amazing time at Gracie Barra West Ashley with Professor Fabio and Professor Rafael! I was visiting Charleston from Gracie Barra Coral Springs in South Florida and the professors and team here all welcomed me with open arms. We had an amazing training session and ended with rounds of live where everyone made it a great environment to train. It was the closest Gracie Barra to where I was staying and I would definitely go out of my way to visit GB West Ashley again anytime I’m up here, thank you team!

I recently stopped in for a Free Trial Class for my first experience with BJJ. I did some research online looking for a school and came across the Gracie Barra West Ashley. I decided to give it a shot because it was close to home! I can confidently say from the second I stepped into the school I was hooked and knew this was the school for me! The atmosphere is exactly what I was looking for and everyone from the Professors to the other students were nothing but welcoming! It can be intimidating to try something like BJJ for the first time, but the entire team here makes you feel at home! I signed up for a membership before leaving and can’t recommend them enough!

Absolutely one of the best decisions we have made joining this school! We had zero knowledge of Jiu Jitsu. Liz and Fabio along with all the other wonderful coaches welcomed us with open arms. The community they have built is amazing and something special to be apart of. Everyone treats you like family and everyone helps each other improve and grow. The kids program is incredible our soon to be 4 year old daughter loves Jiu-Jitsu and it has really helped her! Make the call for your free class you won’t regret it !
